Ainda no primeiro dia do simpósio, participei do workshop "Environments", com o grande Norberto Dorantes e o igualmente grande Mario Linhares.
Vale a pena conhecer o trabalho dele.
A proposta foi interessante e o lugar encantador: as Escadinhas do Duque.

Continuing ...
Also on the first day of the symposium, I attended the workshop "Environments", with the great Norberto Dorantes, and also the equally great Mario Linhares.
Norberto has a fabulous work, full of expression. But it is a solid kind of expression based on a conscious construction. He knows what he's doing. I believe the expression he has today is a reflection of a lot hard work, and conviction of their own. It is worth knowing his work.
The workshop's proposal was interesting and the place was lovely: the Escadinhas do Duque. At first we made quick sketches of no more than 2 minutes to 'warm up'. After that, we tried to capture the depth of the scene: the shaded buildings in the foreground, and the radiant city in the background.
The last exercise was a challenging proposition: we should walk into a store and draw the environment. I did try it, but it wasn’t a good time for restaurants and some local bookstores were not very inviting ... we eventually had a beer in a random bar, but we were exchanging sketchbooks, which is always cool.
At night we had a dinner for the Urban Sketchers correspondents ... And more sketchbooks over here, over there. I met more nice and talented people like Omar Jaramillo, Matthew Brehm and Fabien Denoel. I could finally see the originals from Luis Ruiz, a master of drawing, a guy whose work has been inspiring me.
